Walk/anda: Performing Afrofuturist Reclamation of Space and Place

Durham 150 Grantee

Join this placekeeping mobile experience of Black Wall Street and downtown Durham in order to decolonize the “built environment” and claim sites of memory, struggle, and celebration as liberated afrofuturist spaces. Design your movements through space, uncover local stories, and make an impact on the physical and psychological landscape. Earn points for questioning, designing, visioning, and radical welcome! “Walk/anda” signals a walk, that is inclusive of both people of the Afro-Latinx Diaspora and those for whom walking is not the only way to “go”.
