Swingin At Minnie Tee’s

Durham 150 Grantee

Students at St Sya Academy will develop a play and performance based on researching real people in Durham’s history. In the semester long course students will learn acting skills, script writing, costume design, set design and staging. They will also learn videography, sound and lightning. Relatives of some of the characters will be interviewed.

Swingin’ At Minnie Tee’s is named in honor of my maternal grandmother, Minnie Tatum Davis. Students will demonstrate their acting skills, dance the lindy hop, shim sham, and the jitterbug, and sing!

Performance on June 7, 2019 at Hayti Heritage Center.
