National Night Out and Census 2020 Kickoff
This event is a fusion of the 2020 Census Kick-off, the National Night Out (NNO) opening ceremony and neighborhood NNO activities. National Night Out is an annual community-building campaign that promotes strong police-community partnerships and neighborhood camaraderie to make our neighborhoods safer, more caring places to live, work, and play. As stated on the NNO website, “National Night Out, enhances the relationship between neighbors and law enforcement while bringing back a true sense of community.”
This project will launch at a block party at Lakewood Shopping Center, 2020 Chapel Hill Road, from 4-7 p.m.
It is a rare opportunity for the diverse Durham community to come together, along with law enforcement, under positive circumstances.
The 2019 National Night Out is Tuesday, August 6th.
The 2020 Census count will impact how many congressional representatives our State will have. Moreover, the Census count will directly impact the federal funding allocated to Durham.
The proposed 2020 Census will be a tool to motivate residents to participate in the census and inform them of the new information and data-collection technology that was not available during the previous census.
The 2020 Census theme is: Shape Your Future: Start Here!
