DOCTA Tennis Everyone – Durham 150
Durham 150 Grantee
Durham-Orange Community Tennis Association (DOCTA) together tennis – Durham 150 is a special event that celebrates Durham’s 150 birthday by providing diverse and inclusive outreach and engagement to a minimum of 150 youth and adults in Durham who would like to learn and play tennis in the next 150 days. DOCTA’s goal is to provide an event that promotes the diversity and inclusion of tennis for all Durham residents to feel welcomed and to provide an opportunities for families to engage together in tennis while celebrating Durham’s 150 years.
This event will showcase grassroots tennis in the Durham community and highlight tennis as a sport for youth engagement that would earn exceptionally skilled youth in tennis a college/university scholarship. Tennis Everyone further promotes the six (6) pillars of character (trustworthiness, respect, responsibility, fairness, caring and citizenship) throughout all programming activities and the special event.
The Durham-Orange Community Tennis Association has served the Durham community for the past 20 years to promote and encourage tennis. Though we serve both Durham and orange counties, the majority of our programming is held in Durham, NC at local public parks and public schools. DOCTA currently manages the junior team tennis league for the Eno area with 336 youth in the spring league.
